Mark Twain used the word "nigger" in his books and for the left that's unforgiveable even though Mark Twain's use of the word in his works helped set society on such a course that the use of that word slipped from the vernacular.

It is of no small coincidence that Twain's books had a renaissance in the 1960's and 1970's as they were remade into films that very neatly tied into the civil rights movement.

Now these people are little more than Pavlovian dogs who lose their minds at the sight of the word and they're incapable of understanding the context of the times in which Twain authored his works.

It's their loss.

Her books are based on her life and that is how life was at that time. It was what it was.

I still have her entire series (in a set) that I've had since I was... maybe 8 or so? It's one of the very few things I have from my childhood that I've just never considered parting with. It wasn't that many years ago that I read most of them again. Nostalgia is a good thing now and then.
