Layton is desperate to get some respect. He’s willing to climb so far up Harper's ass that when Stevie farts, it'll sound just like Jack giving a speech.

Bang on gigs. Layton is so transparent, he looks like a ghost.

The NDP is always lagging in the polls. If the Greens could get a hot blonde with big hooters as their leader (because they're not going to vote anyone in with their policies) then the NDP would be the permanent 5th place party of Canadian federal politics instead of their current 4th.

In some ways I would welcome a Conservative/NDP agreement. It would show us how partisan the Liberals have become.

It looks like Layton isn't the only one desperate to get some respect....

$1:
The Bloc Québécois could support the Harper government this Friday

Duceppe seems to be ready to support Harper.....if he's properly stroked!

on CTV's Question Period today they said there was no chance of Duceppe supporting the government.

They also said there are strong rumours that the NDP had been putting pressure on its friends in the Quebec labour unions to pressure the Bloc to support the government to avoid an election. The rumour is that Duceppe basically said, go to hell.

The NDP don't want an election. They'll bleed seats back to the Liberals.

Jack will do what he can with Harper to keep this government working.

The real question isn't whether Layton will deal with the Conservatives (he'll do anything for a shot at power), it's whether or not the Conservatives will deal with him.

My guess is no, but given Harper's flip flops on party policies the last year or so, I could see him getting into bed with the 'socialists' he derides so much.

I trust the NDP more than the Grits. I don't like Layton and his hard line union palls but at least we know which direction the NDP is comming from. A stronger NDP equals a weaker Liberal party.

Harper IS a socialist now. Stevie's $56B drunken spending spree likely made Jack jizz his shorts. The two of them ought to be thick as thieves now. But cynicism aside, if these to clowns are able to spare the taxpayers the cost of a meaningless election, I hope Jack and Stevie do get together and save the parliament. I don't care if they, necessarily, get into bed with one another, but a little reciprocal ass-fingering, at least, would demonstrate more fiscal responsibility than Harper's shown us yet.

MC-C : You and I, as players may have strong feelings but is it in the best interest of Canada? :) Strictly political, if the CPC and the NDP can avoid an election, it's caused the Libs to waste money that is in tight supply. Could it really make parlioament any less functional and for how long? If they had the numbers, they can pull the pin at any time.

I also recall a large number of Liberal senators whe were very upset with political advertisement outside of an election. An election still hasn't been called yet the Libs have started a "election" campaign. The media in't talking about that though..

:D
