It's like they take the longest path possible to do the wrong thing.

I bet they like that kids get vaccinated for Mumps, right?

O'Toole just pushed the CPC backwards at a time when we need to go forwards. Worrying about the pandemic and snubbing Dr. Lewis instead of focusing on economic recovery/holding PM Potato accountable/focusing on actual issues that Canadians worry about, we get this.

I've already resigned myself to the fact that we're going to have minority governments for some time that will accomplish next to nothing for the average citizen.

and snubbing Dr. Lewis

Leslyn Lewis is a kook, and should be given a seat at the unvaccinated kids table. The CPC is lucky she didn't make leader, or they would be on the same footing as the PPC.

The two main parties are shrinking. We should either make minority govts last longer or start trying coalitions.

The last thing Canada needs is a coalition government.

Leslyn Lewis Leslyn Lewis:
Never have Canadian children been used as shields for adults. Parents question vaccinating kids 5-12 without long-term data, a low risk of fatality, & cautions echoed around the world, when the treatment neither prevents transmitting or getting the virus.

I was amused Patriot knew she was a Doctor, and liked her anyhow.

Not really, if she was the Conservative party leader, Trudeau would be back on his snowboard.

$1:
The anti-abortion group Right Now is recommending that Conservative Party members rank Lewis first on their ballots, followed by fellow social conservative Sloan. O'Toole — who has said he will defend the right of women to choose but would let MPs vote their conscience on matters like abortion — is ranked third.

Another prominent anti-abortion group, Campaign Life Coalition, has given Lewis "green light" status to indicate she is a candidate worthy of support.

$1:
But Lewis is still non-committal about Canada meeting the greenhouse gas emission reduction targets set out in the Paris accord.

"I think that we need to set our own goals," she said. "If the Paris targets are constricting our national growth and national autonomy, maybe we don't aim for that. Or maybe we aim to go higher than that. So, I think, we just have to set our own standards and do the best we can and realize we live in a global environment."

And given her views on those issues, plus the pandemic I quoted above - if she were leader of the CPC, they would have the same number of seats as the PPC. She is in direct opposition to the average Canadian voter.

Concur. The only problem being that Canadians are gluttons for punishment and don't want to rock the boat. I was a little sad when she didn't win the leadership convention, knowing that O'Toole is a little weak when it comes to a lot of issues.

First it was Scheer, now O'Toole, and who knows what's next. Until the CPC can get a true leader and visionary like Stephen Harper into the fold, we'll suffer through minority governments for quite some time.

You might as well close the door permanently on the Conservative party if they're ever stupid enough to put in a hardcore social conservative as leader. The vast majority of Canadians, including most moderate conservatives, want absolutely nothing at all to do with any of that religious-supremacy crap. If the Tories go for it someday, the same way American conservatives have, then all they'll be doing is cutting their own throats.

I'm not a liberal. But I'm no conservative either. All I know is that I will never vote for some bible-pusher who openly wants to destroy the legal secular rights of other Canadians in order to impose a religious-supremacist agenda on the entire country. And I highly doubt I'm in a minority thinking this way either.
