See! Some industries don't have to listen to their workers, or provide any sort of communist things like safe workplaces or fair pay. They can just wait till the Feds make legislation in your favour.

So why wasn't the government this quick to step in with legislation when the MEA arbitrarily extended the workday, without consulting the workers? It should have never made it to this point. Whatever is in one contract should carry on until there is a new contract. There should be severe financial and/or criminal penalties for employers who arbitrarily make changes to working conditions. You want to make changes? Put it in the new contract. Its that simple.

In a perfect world, you would be right. But when dealing with workers that are critical to the economy, as we've seen with COVID, the Governments will always side with the Economy over the worker.

Workers can't afford homes and cars, no economy.

Funny how that works.

You'd almost think that it was a mutually beneficial arrangement and that screwing each other over would be the last thing either side would ever want to do.

There I go again, having another infant moment, thinking that the world will ever be rational or sensible. Like, what planet have I been living on for the last fifty plus year anyway? Sigh. :|
