This is a risky move - i'm no fan of Harper or his government, but i'm not sure Canadians are ready for another election. This smells a lot like a status quo electoral result.

I don't care about Iggy.

Given that the man may end up being our Prime Minister, you should.

It'll still probably be a minority and the damage will be limited. At least the Conservatives might get a chance to rebuild something worth voting for again.

So you want Iggy to be PM so the CPC can have a "time out"?

Harper bad

Harper bad

Too bad your not a member. :D

Harper's performance isn't the problem here. It's the failure of the Libs to find a leader. After the splits between Chretien/Martin, they had a legitimate candidate election and they came up with Dion. I don't need to remind our "progressive" members that all of them loved and supported the guy right up untill he lost, then he was discarded like a soiled tissue. So without an election or even a debate, they appoint Iggy. It's too bad that he'll get discarded too because I actually like the guy.
He just was running for the wrong party.

1st. If the Conservatives fail to gain a majority again. Harper and his organizers will be toast. That means a serious reorganization and re-examination of the party.

ROTFL That's pricelessly naive ( or is it naively priceless?)
Hmmm great logic. Iggy calls an election CANADA DOES NOT WANT ( we're getting sick of 'em), and loses it. How does that negatively affect Harper? Seems to me that the only party that would have to reorganize in THAT scenario would be the Libs. But that'll never happen because the Liberals seem to think they can do no wrong, even when they can't win several elections in a row.
The desperation in the Federal Libs is patently obvious. They can't bear to think about NOT being in power. It's got fuck all to do with any of us, or turning the country around.

Either way, all we have now is the Libs bitching about the same things they did or didn't do when THEY were in power and the Cons doing the things they bitched about the Libs doing while they were in power. Both parties are chock full of pathetic hypocrits. Actually, that's politics in general these days

Personally, I've seen less childish behaviour during schoolyard fights.

[huh] What did I say that would suggest that?

I'm more concerned with the Conservative party and its less than stellar performance to date. I'd be happier with another minority and the resulting fallout within the party.

Because a Harper loss is about the only way any real shakeup is going to occur.

Why are you intentionally ignorant to a man and a party who want to run this Country and who may get that chance?

Give me a break.

You just don't add up. You're so concerned with Harper and what he's done wrong, yet have no care for the people who might replace him?

[huh]I'm not sure how to answer that. Layton wants to run the country and I don't like him either. What's your point?

I voted Conservative all my life. Harper and the Reform contingent have failed repeatedly to put it together. They’ve become as untrustworthy as the Liberals before them. I want a change within the party. What’s so hard to understand?

The conservatives have done a wonderful job in my riding, so I am going to vote them in again. It's really that simple for me. With that in mind the electoral system in Canada needs a face lift, I want to be able to vote in my MP and have a sperate vote for my PM.

The difference is that Jack Layton does not have a snowballs chance in hell of becoming Prime Minister.

I'm beginning to think rr called poquas right on this. He seems to be fixated on Harper in a most negative way, to the point that he's not hearing anything else on the subject. An unhealthy obsession.

From his own admissions, he voted for CPC Russ Hiebert in 04, 06, and in 08. For a man with so much bad to say on only one party and so much free time, I'm shocked that it took him so long to find a problem.

Is this thread about 'outting' poquas or about Iggy?
