I for one don't want to see another election for a least another year. (Mainly cause I don't want to listen to every single politician in Canada lying their asses off and slinging shit at their opposition, it's getting very old.) I think Layton is right in backing the current government. Last thing we need in this economic unrest (and hopefully, recovery) is the confusion of yet another election. We need stability and this minority government, if handled right by the NDP and the Conservatives, I think is the ticket.

OnTheIce OnTheIce:
Being a member of the party and having spoke to dozens of members and other supporters, I can't tell you of one person who wants to goto an election right now.

Then they're fools. Why the hell wouldn't you want to have an election when you are in a minority but would likely win a majority?

OnTheIce OnTheIce:
However, you're free to speculate all you like :)

I'm just employing a little common sense.

OnTheIce OnTheIce:
I think we'd like to see things keep moving along as the Liberals are imploding and the economy is improving.

I couldn't really give much of a shit about point #1 so long as point #2 continues. :D

Fool? Hardly. Canadians will punish the party who forces an election.

The Cons weren't the party trying to bring down the government. The Libs tried that. Wouldn't that be a double-positive for the CPC?

The Cons would have to engineer their own defeat which would be perfectly obvious and would no doubt be noted to all Canadians.

Canadians EXPECT the Conservatives to reach out/sell out/work together with the parties to make things work. Period.

These poll numbers don't include the Liberal fallout in Quebec, the fact that Liberal MP are wanting to defect and Harpers surprise Beatles rendition.

I can't wait to see the next poll. It could mean the end to another Liberal leader.

Oh I dunno....Iggy's glued himself the Liberal leadership with cyanocrylate, it will take a whole lot of solvents to pry him loose.

You don't need an election to see politicians slinging shit at each other. Both the Libs and Cons have been running attack ads for what seems like an eternity...I agree that it is getting really old.

I don't see the NDP/Conservative marriage as stable in any way shape or form, as they both want to go in different directions. If they can make it work, then I'm all for it, but my feeling is all this has done is delay the inevitable, just like Martin's deal with the NDP back in 2005.

With Harper's comments about quebeckers over the past year and Iggy firing Coderre, the Bloc must be thinking it's going to gain seats whenever this new election is, and Iggy is spoiling for a fight. My guess is there will be an election in less than a year because I don't see this 'alliance' lasting very long.

I think I'd trust Iggy more if his eyes weren't have shut when he spoke. He always looks like he just woke up from a nap from his Idea Couch.

But seriously, what is he thinking? Trying to force an election that nobody wants. He's tanking in all of the polls and has no new platform to offer Canadians other than, "We can do better." Good luck with that!
