EyeBrock EyeBrock:
Yea, British blood. Unfortunately Powell's vision will likely become a reality unless the UK government radically changes it's course.

The sooner the better though, and conflict that is going to happen we will want to happen soon otherwise we are SOL

This prophesy turned out right because this IS the history of race relations in the UK over the past 40 years - and it's getting worse.

$1:
For these dangerous and divisive elements the legislation proposed in the Race Relations Bill is the very pabulum they need to flourish. Here is the means of showing that the immigrant communities can organise to consolidate their members, to agitate and campaign against their fellow citizens, and to overawe and dominate the rest with the legal weapons which the ignorant and the ill-informed have provided. As I look ahead, I am filled with foreboding; like the Roman, I seem to see "the River Tiber foaming with much blood."

From my point of view, and having lived and worked in a very diverse part of Manchester, race is not the issue.

It's immigrants coming to Canada and the UK who are not willing to integrate and wanting to make changes to the host countries culture that are the problem.

We all can make allowances for new Canadians in order that we all move on together. I’m all for a level playing field in employment, even targeting ethnic groups that are under represented in fields like policing and the military.

But why should immigrants from the Third World get treated better than me and be given special privileges?

When I first came here in 1994 I couldn’t apply for jobs in my field because of Bob Rae’s “Equity” hiring practices.
White males were ‘positively’ discriminated against. There was nothing ‘positive’ about it to me.

I tried to apply for a ‘Works Ontario’ position, specifically designed for new immigrants.
The program manager told me that it was designed for people who spoke English as a second language, even though nowhere in the program literature did it mention this. I didn’t get a place in the program.

It took me over a year to get the job I wanted but I got there, despite Bob Rae and the social engineers.

Everybody should get the same opportunities in Canada, some shouldn’t get more than others.

New immigrants shouldn’t be telling Canada to change to suit them nor should they be demanding funding to preserve their immigrant cultures within Canada.

Canada should be demanding loyalty and integration from the immigrants that come here.

It’s time both major political parties stopped bowing to unrealistic political correctness and tackled all these race/culture/religious issues for the good of all Canadians, not just those from specific ethnic and special interest groups.

All the pandering just divides us even more.

Let’s stop this hyphenated-Canadian crap and all become Canadians, or Enoch’s apocalypse of intolerance and bloodshed will be our fate.

Of course, the more we recognize "cultural differences" the less cohesive we become as a society, and the more we promote the values of our group and less of the country as a whole. Ultimately we get calls for institutions such as sharia law (if they want sharia law then let them just stay where they are) and what is happening in northern England right now, calls for areas where ONLY Muslims would be allowed to live. I think it's in Bradford - it's actually gone to the city council.

I read Powell's speech. Some of it appears pretty racist now but some of the things he said do have merit.

Scary times though!

Sorry to hijack the thread. But its sad to see a country like the UK who fought off the Nazis during the Battle of Britain give in to this sort of shit. It really is sad. It shouldn't even get the chance to go to council.

These people obviously resent western values and the people, so if they want to only have muslim neighbors the should go back to whatever Islamic Republic they came from then.

Yet they let it happen and it should be a warning to Canada.

They have to get through Quebec first.
