Lemmy Lemmy:
BartSimpson BartSimpson:
I suppose Canada should end the military over this justification to end the military.

End it? This is a justification to keep it. We need a place to keep these types. Sort of employed, but not really, housed together on the margins of society, out of most peoples' way, with rigid routine, a strict code of conduct under the watchful eye of supervisors.

You sir, are a boil on the fat ass of society. Its your type that is the problem with this world today. Is this really all the credit you think the men and women of the CF deserve? I have just retired with 30 years of service to the RCN. I was not sexually molested as a child, in fact I had the all around normal up bringing to a military family just outside of Toronto. My father was not subject to sexual harrassment either. I know of no one currently serving that has been through what the media scum have just dug up. The CF has some of Canada's best citizens. As a matter of fact, military service should be manditory for at least 3 years after the age of 16. The court system would probably not be so backed up with shit head kids. We serve with dignity, and ask nothing in return. I imagine you must be one of these metrosexual, millennial, selfish, egotistical types with no life experience because you've just spent the last 25 years in front of a game console. Your day turn shitty when the battery on your cell phone dies....am I right. My day turned shitty when missles where flying overhead in the Gulf. For 30 years I watch the tears roll down my wife and daughter cheeks as my ship pulled away from the jetty for yet another 7 month deployment. All along, I selfishly put myself and my family through this for people like you and Canada. I guess I wasted my time. Because you are a registered member of CCK... I will never again browse this website. Moderators....this person needs to be diciplined and his comments supervised.

Lemmy Lemmy:
Freakinoldguy Freakinoldguy:
So, these social pariah "types" gravitate towards things like prisons, boyscouts, cadets, service clubs, and first responder organizations?

Good to know that these marginally employables will have a place to go so they don't bother you.

You're putting words in my mouth that I never said. That won't do.

I apologize since I must have completely misunderstood your original post? So, for clarifications sake, could you kindly explain just what you meant when you said:

Given my limited experience on this topic I automatically associated the term "these types" of people, housed together, and margins of society to mean those that were a menace or dangerous to your society which, just had to be wrong since it's something you normally don't associate with abuse victims and the military.

I suggest he is banned from CCK. This site is supportive of the CF and when people like that get register to this site and start to open their uninformed gates, it makes for bad waves for those of us who are registered CCK members and have experienced standing out in the driving rain on Nov 11 in full uniform so that idiots like Lemmy can say he lives in a free country.

peck420 peck420:
I have to say that the findings of the study should have been expected.

Think about it. You are an 18 year old kid. You have an abusive home environment. You don't have a lot of money or skills. You are essentially stuck in your abusive environment.

Enlistment cures all of this. It gives you a safe place, it provides your housing, and you get paid.

You can think of it as the degenerate catcher, or you can think of it as the salvation for many broken persons. Based on the exemplary performance of our military, over a very long time, I like to think of it as the salvation for many of these abused people.

you too have very distorted image of what skills and qualifications are needed to get past the initial job interview and aptitude tests. The CF is run like a company. Every member is subject to the code of service discipline. Something largely lacking in the civilian world. Have you walked into a recruiting center lately. Chances are you'd be shown what level of education you are lacking, they would then tell you the interview is over and you would be expected to go upgrade your skills. You are completely incorrect about the military providing a safe place to live, etc. The only time you have to live within the confines of the base is during your first 12 to 18 month of basic trades training. Members are charged 900 a month for food and 700 for quarters in which they have to share the room with at least 2 or 3 other people. Once your basic trade course is over you left to secure civilian accommodation. You life is similar to a civilians at this point....you pay rent on your apt, you drive to work, you go home and make supper. I have owned my own home for the last 20 years...and yes its in a civilian neighbourhood with nurses, contractors, and police officers for neighbours. As for an abusive environment...ever heard of the human rights charter? There is absolutely not abuse going on. You follow the rules, and you have a good day at work. If you dont follow the rules laid out, expect to be charged for service unbecoming...which could cost you 1000.00 of your next pay. I have just retired from the CF after 30 years....since I have been out,I have overheard more berating at places like rona and walmart and bestbuy between employees. Why is this...because there is no leadership structure and no sense of teamwork. This would never happen in the military because we had a divisional system in place that was designed for a positive work environments. We are also sent on leadership training. I did mine at Royal Military College in St Jean PQ. I earned university credits upon graduation. I am starting to get the impression that most of the ingrates who get satisfaction out of bashing the military are the fat fuck (who does'nt own a comb or a shower) employees that you see standing around in various stores who's only interaction with the military is playing COD on their PS3/4. Probably still living in their moms basement at the age of 28, and just dont have the balls to join. You might miss mommy.... Just for shits and giggles....I left the military with a 60K a year pension for life, full medical and dental and 5 Microsoft and Cisco certifications......what are doing with your life?

Wow, a newbie coming on and telling Hyack who should be banned. Guess all the shit flung by other former military on this site is ok with him, as long as the military remains off limits.

CCK?

Canadian Civilians are Kakka? As much as the military types like to moan about civilians not giving them them the proper respect and gratitude, the disdain seems to flow in the other direction as well. Which makes sense given the op - they've found a supportive family and it becomes insular and us vs them. Lots of talk about serving the people of Canada, but then lots of sneering at those same people. The topper was the ex-soldier that Thanos quoted.

While I appreciate your point of view I'll remind you that Lemmy's right to offend other people is one of the things both you and I fought to defend.

While it is entirely possible that I would severely injure someone for saying such things to my face I'd also take deep umbrage at anyone suggesting that they don't have a right to say such things.

It chafes me mightily to say that the mature thing is to let these people speak yet there it is.

The thing of it is that if what we hold dear is of sufficient substance then it will bear scrutiny be that scrutiny fair or unfair.

Well seeing as how Lemmy and andyt feel that certain types of people need to be kept from society even though they have broken no laws and are actually willing to protect their fellow countrymen.

I would conclude that both andyt and Lemmy will not mind being removed from society and cut off from others because, well you know we feel people like them should be kept away from others.

I can honestly say that I didn't expected to get the run down for stating the military is an accessible safe haven for those coming from abusive homes, so a higher incident rate of members coming from abusive homes should be have been expected.

Ah well, such is life.

Welcome to CKA sookite. Or welcome back, which ever is more fitting.
