EyeBrock EyeBrock: It's no different than the hate many Tories still have for Trudeau really though eh? True enough. I still get apoplectic when that name is mentioned and the feeling has somehow strangely transfered to his son, even though I never believed in the "Sins of the Father" thing. Must be the Messiah complex thing.

PublicAnimalNo9 PublicAnimalNo9: Gee, liberals calling liberals to see if liberals want an election, and the answer is yes. Quelle surprise The facts are that it was the general population in this riding..no one knew who or if they belonged to any political party. The numbers of people who do belong to political parties is low. We just took the phone book and started calling over 2 weeks. There were many people who said they voted tory that were pissed over his senate flip flop..

I just don't take polls seriously cuz I've seen parties leading in the polls right up to election night and wind up losing. If you had been a conservative, I would'a used the same line

Harper has done what he needed to do. He inherited the remnants of the PC and Reform parties and he has ruled with a rod of iron, for good reason.
Chretien ruled in a very similar vein.
We have to try and stop ourselves from adopting an unnecessarily partisan tone without good reason. Most of us here get on and most of us have a level of mutual respect.
There will be the ones who will just use the whole political campaign to ridicule and undermine other’s points of view, and I’ve rebutted in that ilk in the past.
We all have to step away from the abyss though and debate the issues, not assassinate each other on threads.
The real losers won’t pay any heed but I have found god, and his name is Stella Artios.
Roll on the election in November.

kenmore kenmore: We just took the phone book and started calling over 2 weeks. There were many people who said they voted tory that were pissed over his senate flip flop.. I get pissed every time he stacks the senate as well, but you know as well I do he has tried to fix it. It was then left up to provincial politicians to get it going and it failed. The senate needs to be cleaned up at the very least you agree on that and so do I, if he cant fix it from the outside looks like he has to send in reinforcements and fix it from within. Don't worry Liberals still have the majority in the senate for now. But when conservatives gets the majority of the Senate and passes the senate reform bill so we can have an elected senate. Will you still be bitching about it ?

I'll translate some of Iggy's quotes from this speech to what he really means.
"Mr. Harper your time is up!" 3rd base coach is waving me in.
"You can't count on a leader who can't count, who can only do division" That global recession thingy that started in the U.S. where were already revovering nicely from, well that's Harper's fault.
"A Canadian is a Canadian is a Canadian!" Free Omar Kadhr
"Never again will the world say Where's Canada?" I've spent 34 years not living here, I have alot more British and American friends than Harper does.
"We can be the smartest, healthiest, greenest, hardest-working, most open-minded country there is but only if we choose to be." David Suzuki appointed to the Senate
"Stephen Harper leads a government that doesn't care. We can do better and we will do better." Conservatives = Bad

This is from the Liberal Newsletter just sent out.
"The first milestone is that in the last quarter the Liberal Party of Canada outpaced the Conservative Party of Canada in fundraising. This is a significant development for us as a party and I want to thank all of you who have contributed and asked others to contribute. Your hard work has put us in a position where we can now challenge the Harper Tories on equal footing."
"The second milestone is equally important. As of today, the Liberal Party of Canada now has more than 100,000 members!"
I think the NDP might be put in a tough position now they are now saying that they will gauge their support on an issue by issue basis. It seems their free ride is over.

poquas poquas: It’s another sophomoric example of the pack mentality exhibited here. When the message can’t be suitably attacked, they attempt to discredit the messenger. yes, I believe this is what is commonly referred to as partisan politics.

Bodah Bodah: "Never again will the world say Where's Canada?" I've spent 34 years not living here, I have alot more British and American friends than Harper does. <shrugs> I don't care if people say 'where's Canada'. Just so long as their cheques ar addressed properly. Just buy our stuff and piss off. Bodah Bodah: "We can be the smartest, healthiest, greenest, hardest-working, most open-minded country there is but only if we choose to be."[/color] David Suzuki appointed to the Senate Meh. We're close enough to that already. I'll settle for the best looking. Good post.

So the money they scraped together from those $550 lunches is going to evaporate when they start their $2 million dollar attack ad?
'The Conservatives spent too much money not fast enough and we think working a whole 8 weeks is good enough to sit on your duff for the rest of the year'
Great platform.

So, they have more cash but the same percentage vote as when Dion was in. That will translate into better attack ads and er, the same percentage vote. So another election and no change. Bring it on Libs. You guys have the most to lose.
