commanderkai commanderkai:

Which begs the question, why is being opposed to gay marriage "anti-gay"? I'd rather just have civil unions and leave marriages to the various churches, temples, mosques, whatever else.

If you think its ok for straight people to marry legally and not gays when they would like to then yeah sorry thats anti gay. But if youre against the government being involved in marriage at all then thats consistent and im obviously then not talking about you.

commanderkai commanderkai:
Also, how is being Republican somehow an "anti-gay" group?

its not an "anti gay group" but A)it opposes gay marriage and beyond that has an awful lot of people like Jerry "gayness is an abomination"Falwell as members. (You know this, stop being Coy.)I never hear people like her denouncing the various pastors that are members of her party. So she needs to stfu about it in this instance then. Dont you think? Or is consistency not something desirable.

This UN guy is just another bigot but before we decry Islam on this, 20 years ago in most Western countries, the police were busy chasing gays around parks and bursting into bath house and locking people up for basically being gay.

Exaaaactly. Not excusing islam or this particular numb nuts but I hate hypocrisy.

Especially since the Log Cabin Republicans are a high profile conservative gay group within the party. A group that is in good standing with the Republican National Committee.

I posted this so am I anti-gay? Is everyone who posts with the "C" a homophobe?

No but Ive seen alot of posters on here arguing about gay marriage etc. And beyond that you KNOW alot of conservatives(obviously not all!)dont think gayness is "acceptable" so I dont see how this becomes about islam. Since no major religion accepts that gays are born as such.

Because, in the western world, religion and state are seperated. I think we should keep it that way, don't you?

It becomes about Islam, because he is the UN GAP, and he should keep his big mouth shut. That's why.

There is no comparison between what went on in the West (closing bath houses, raiding gay bars, etc.) and what goes on TODAY in most Islamic run (ie Sharia compliant) countries.

I'm not posting the pictures of the hangings, beheadings, floggings, and stonings but I will if that's needed. My point is that while "gay" rights are a new thing in the West, human rights are not.

The 1969 Stonewall riots in New York City, for instance, were not followed by a mass execution. Were modern day gays in Cairo, Islamabad, Mecca, Damascus, or etc. to riot similarly I assure you there absolutely would be mass executions in the aftermath of the event.

You made no connection there. At least not in relation to what im posting. How does the fact that people are bashing Islam for the exact shit that chirstianity preaches have anything to do with him bieng the UN GAP that should shut his hole(which I of course agree with but thats not the point)

Also the West NEEDS to criticize Islamic countries, not to be mean but unless one is criticized one will never change. Almost all human rights gains in Islamic countries and indeed in most countries is from pressure from western society. Criticizing from the West is not just limited to Islam, we criticize ourselves on a daily basis.

About their anti gayness? You damn right...but it better not be from someone who's also a bigot on the topic or is mute when the same bigotry emanates from one of their teammates.

Because if it was the Pope saying the same thing, people would say the same thing about Catholisism.

Because THIS guy is completely out of line, it is about Islam.

I totally agree Bart. The Islamic persecution of gays is on another planet compared to our cops busting into bath houses.

My point was though that we are not without blame on the gay rights front. We have come a long way quickly though.

Really, the mainstream Muslim presecution, killings, maimings etc is just another example of these countries excusing their brutal stone-age cultures with religion.

"The ranking Republican on the House Foreign Affairs committee, Florida's Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, told On Top Magazine: "The anti-gay bigotry spewed by this Qaddafi shill demonstrates once again that the UN has been hijacked by advocates of hate and intolerance."

Someone from the American republican party is lecturing us about "anti gay bigotry"...BAHAHAHHAHA. Please, please.

And alot of the people on here I see all huffy are the same ones that would deny gays the right to marry. Please spare me...on this matter right wingers and and conservative muslims are cut from the EXACT same cloth. Your outrage is an absolute joke.

I'll take advice from a tolerent fellow with the name Biblesmasher? You kidding me?

Who's asking you to take advice. And who said I'm "tolerant". Tolerance is for suckers.
Im not on here bashing muslims because they also think Christianity is stupid. That's the only way your little attempt at equivalency would have some merit.

Anti gay people bashing another group for being anti gay is the height of hypocrisy.
Tolerance is for suckers. Very good! Let's just smash them all, eh?
