Unless Harper pulls of an impossible miracle by getting a majority this time he'll be replaced, and that'll be a good thing. Ignatieff is untested, and will have to prove himself during any upcoming campaign if he's to survive, never mind win government.

If Harper doesn't get a majority he'll RESIGN. If Iggy doesn't become PM in the next year he'll be in France nursing a severe knife wound in the back.

Harper would never resign. He'll superglue his own ass to his toilet on Sussex in an attempt to stay on.

diggerdick diggerdick: Saskanna Saskanna: diggerdick diggerdick: If Harper did get a majority his true vicious right wing thinking would stun the canadian people.........The only way he can be trusted is having the other leaders have the ability to control him in some way..............The people of Canada dont want a election right now,but they also dont want a con majority............ Don't bet on that. Some of us out here in WESTERN Canada are completely comfortable with the thought of a Conservative Party Majority government. In fact, we will continue to work like hell to achieve it. ![Canada Flag [flag]](./images/smilies/smilie_flag.gif) Hopefully not that many, The right wing is going to fall, Bush is gone, harper is never going to get a majority, and Campbell in BC is going to lie him self into criminal charges....selling of bc rail and destroying evidence ........ There are still Liberals over the age of 15 that still use this old and tired argument? Sorry dick; Iggy is on tape supporting your hero Bush and supporting torture and assasinations. Can you say the same for Harper? Check and mate. ![Drink up [B-o]](./images/smilies/drinkup.gif)

And I pray 8 times a day and 15 times on Sunday that Harpers opponents keep bringing up Khadr during the election. Check that, "I'LL" keep bringing up . Anyone that can take down 3 leaders and leave them with Bob Rae deserves more credit than that.

And how many of those elections were the conservatives responsible for iniating ? 1 ? You can look at it as defending as well.

bootlegga bootlegga: I can definitely see Harper losing his job if he doesn't get a majority, but Iggy should survive as long as he doesn't fall prey to foot in mouth disease. The biggest key for the Libs is to shift well away from Dion's policy platform and come up with something far more centrist. I think he will be weakened, but really, only the most optimistic Tory can really believe that Harper will get a majority. He won't resign. It will be another minority CPC government + or - 10 seats from 2008.

Two...Harper was leader of the Opposition in 2005 and called an election last year. This year, if there is another one, it will be the fault of all the parties, not just the Conservatives.

Where I come from they shoot lame horses. Still, if the CPC wants to hold onto an old nag instead of sending it off to the glue factory, that's their perogative.
