Let's look at the defense argument:
Seems to me that if Khill was a cop then this defense would be enough to clear him and there'd be near universal head nodding in support.
So if this argument works for the cops then it's also applicable to normal people.
The decision also puts criminals on notice that the government won't be protecting them from law abiding citizens anymore.
