Threatened? I think the opposition parties are the ones threatening themselves.
If any thing these EI reforms are part of their election platform. Do the Liberals have a platform yet? I want to be king and the natural governing party of Canada needs to be returned to the throne are not legitimate components of an election platform.

If King Solomon had been as slow at making decisions as Harper he'd never have been famous....then I suppose Harper will never be famous.

Recognition that EI will be an issue in the election given increasing unemployment levels.

The Tory response at this late date looks just a little too contrived since Diane Finley all summer long has maintained that no more needs to be done to improve EI.

But a bit too thin for the Libs and NDP. They will still be pushing for the 360 hour threshold.

I don't see any give in the NDP's EI position - or Iggy's. They have both made a 360-hr threshold as their line in the sand.

Thats the problem, harper ignores everyone, his own caucus, the opposition, the Canadian people, the press and the rest of the world. But then thats what an autocrat, demagogue does right? ie Hitler, Stalin, Napolean,Musolini.

It's good to see legitimate politcal parties putting platforms so the people have more than the leader or brand to vote on.
