Meh, it's some MPs going off the reservation. they won't get any support from the PMO and it doesn't mean anything.
I would be interested to know what legislation they're thinking could be used as a reason for this... far as I know there is no legal pretext for that kind of investigfation, regardless of how many weeks the abortions took place at.
I also wonder how many abortions after 19 weeks are taking place that they think it's a problem?
That said, any doctor performing non-medically neccesary abortions after 19 weeks probably should be looked at by the CMA atleast.

Any MP who sticks their nose into the issue and demands someone be arrested after going through an ordeal like that is more than just a rogue MP. It makes them a disgusting human being.

From their point of view, they're interested in investigating and reducing the number of babies being murdered. Yeah, what a bunch of assholes, no better that those communist nazis talking about gun control to reduce child deaths.
I may not care for the gun control remark, but your heart is in the right place and that matters.
Thanks, but you may not like where my heart is either I'm actually pro-choice, mostly due to an unwillingness on my part to make those kind of choices for others. I am uncomfortable with the whole idea though, particularily late term abortions for no medical reason. a feeling that's grown stronger since I had my own children and realized what I could've missed out on if I'd allowed my fear and apprehension to win out in the days after findong out my then GF was pregnant.
Before saying anything on this, I'd like to know how many of these late term abortions are being done... who's taking the decision... and for what reasons?
The gun control remark is meant to try to provide some balance and to highlight the idea that motivations matter. In the cases of many pro-lifers and pro-gun control people the idea is to save lives.
Anyone is free to disagree with them on any number of levels, but to denigrate them on a personal levcel because you think that their ideas for how to go about doing that are wrong, is fairly disgusting in my opinion, and is probably one reason why some of these never ending debates get so emotional.

They're interested in pushing their agenda, against the will of Canadians.
The Jubilee medals, intended to celebrate the Queens 60 years on the throne, caused controversy last year when a Conservative MP gave them to two anti-abortion activists who had been convicted of criminal offences for their activities outside abortion clinics.
Alberta MP Maurice Vellacott nominated Mary Wagner and Linda Gibbons, both repeatedly charged for violating bubble zones around clinics. He likened their advocacy to that of civil rights leader Rev. Martin Luther King. At the time she was awarded the medal, Wagner was in jail in Toronto for breaching probation by refusing to stay away from a clinic
Bunch of assholes indeed. He should get a uterus, then tell us his opinion.
Bart you may wish to actually look up 223a before making any comments:
223. (1) A child becomes a human being within the meaning of this Act when it has completely proceeded, in a living state, from the body of its mother, whether or not
(a) it has breathed;
(b) it has an independent circulation; or
(c) the navel string is severed.
Killing child
(2) A person commits homicide when he causes injury to a child before or during its birth as a result of which the child dies after becoming a human being.
The major thing vellacot is missing is that this law was found in violation of section 7 of the charter. There is currently no law at all regarding abortion in Canada at this current time. No really there is none that I can find within the criminal code.
Yet for some magical reason when you take away all the barriers and allow women full and free access to abortion the numbers continue to fall since 1998 according to statscan.
Vellacot is also the clown who tried to push the abortion issue on an anti-bully bill targeting the very real issue of bullying in schools. His argument was that we are "bullying fetuses" when we take any action to take charge of our reproduction.
Just for the record I am also Pro choice for the same reasons unsound stated above. I agree with the court that because of the charter I don't have the right to make a decision of reproduction for another. I am overjoyed to know the numbers continue to fall and I heavily support people using birth control well before this kind of thing ever becomes an issue.
So yeah...facts. You may want to look them up before commenting on such a sensitive issue.
The 80's called, they want their issue back.

Looks to me like the MP's are just asking for an existing law to be enforced.

Aww man, I keep forgetting, only women are allowed to have an opinion on reproduction.
