Bradley Manning pleads guilty to some Wikileaks charges

10 down, 12 to go.

He will be in prison for a long long long time. He will probably beleave he is a mytar of some sort, when in fact he is nothing but a traitor.

For what? Telling us what our governments are doing in our name?

I wonder if those documents were available under Access to Information (or whatever law the US government uses).

The Menu for the G20 conference a couple years back is still classified 'secret'.

You have to look at what his motivations were... he didn't do this to aid the enemy even though he may have put people and missions in danger... if anybody has any concrete example of this, I'd like to know. He didn't do it for monetary gain either. At worst, he had the top brass scrambling.

What he did was stupid but he would surely argue that his motivations were noble.
Before you start beating on me, I don't agree with that either, but a lot of people do.

What ever his motives were and or still are he violated his oath of non discloser. He had access to secret information and released it in violation of the CMJ (Code of Military Justice). I'm not positive if that is by definition treason but to me it is, IMO it is as bad as if you worked for the CIA and released secrets. It is rumored that some of the info he released put peoples lives in danger and I hope it is either proven or disproven in his court martial. That will go a long way towards weather he will be given life or not.

Now for all you who think he is noble would you employee him and let him have access to your company's info, employees private info and other sensitve material. How comfortable would you be knowing this guy could release your information to the world because he feels it is the right and noble thing to do.

Don't believe 'rumours'. He's pleading not guilty to that charge, because he knows it can't be proven. The only personal information leaked was about people that had died months previous to his collecting the information.

Like Raydan, if anyone was harmed because of that leak, I'd like to know. If anyone was embarrased, I'd also like to know because I'd like to them.



Yup, I would. Because he knows the difference between classified valuable intelligence and classified restaraunt menu items. And I'd trust newspapers that vetted the information before publishing it, because they know the same thing.

Interesting that he admits to sending classified information but not that it was espionage. Basicly that is what espionage is all about. Getting your hands on classified stuff and giving it to others.

No where does it say that these sources (people) are already dead. Yeah Wikileaks is known for vetting information.

Is classifying a restaraunt menu really a good decision and expense of resources?

Yet we are not talking about classified restaraunt info, you maybe but not me. Personal employee information. That is the true comparison to the sorcers info as best as I can make it for you. You seem to feel that your restaraunt menu is far more important then your employees info.

And the G20 meeting in Toronto, the menu the delegates were served, is still classified to you and me. That is what I am discussing. Does it make sense that information remains classified, and what concequences would there be if Pvt. Manning had released it?
