Mr. Durfy did, however, reiterate WestJet's promise to increase its fleet by 16% in 2008, despite the sizable capacity cuts and layoffs announced by its domestic rival, Air Canada, this week.
The seats are too small and the service wasnt that great. I had lost luggage when I got to Cuba and didnt get it until I was back home. The stewardess was a rude old hag and she actually caused a couple of middle aged women to cry. I went to Mexico as well and they wouldnt let us take a leak over US air space, not great for people with heart probs.

I think you were too drunk to realize you were actually on AC.
"mtbr" said All those AC employees who get layed off will have a place to go. AC must be run by a bunch of ex CBC executives.
AC and WJ have completely different Business Models. AC is a full service Airline. WJ a minimal service airline. If AC switches to the same model as WJ, WJ will likely fail.

I fly both at least 2 or 3 times a month and WestJet's 737's are by far more comfortable and clean. They have a great on time record and I've yet to have one of their flights cancelled for any reason. In fact one of my flights to Toronto on AC was cancelled because of "weather" so walked over to WestJet and got on their's which was on time. Don't think I've ever seen an employee over 40 either. If your baggage didn't arrive on your flight it was probably the airport baggage staff that messed up. I had one of my small begs delayed by WestJet and they had it to me the next day, which was also 100 miles from where I landed. It was the airport handlers who didn't put it on the belt but they still did their magic. Got to pee over the US as well so it must have been turbulance or something.
Having said all that Kenmore you may want to look at your boarding pass again. I'm looking at WestJet's route map now...........and they don't go to Cuba.

First, all airlines lose luggage. Not great but it happens. If you're going to not fly with an airline due to that then you won't fly.
As to the rest, try comparing the seats on Westjet to AC on their Airbus 319/320/321 which is the closest comparison and you'll see that the seating is virtually identical in economy. A quick check on SeatGuru shows that even on the larger aircraft they are very comparable.
I can guarantee that they did not say people could not go to the washroom because you were over the States. If it was turbulent (or forecast to be) the pilots may have turned on the seat belt signs. The only other restriction is that while flying over US airspace the Americans require that people not be allowed to congregate in the aircraft, so you can't have large lines waiting for the washroom.
Given your lack of accuracy in the rest of the post I have to question the truth of the "hag" and the old ladies.
This is not to say that Westjet (or any airline) is perfect but if you're going to run down a whole airline at least be factual. For what it's worth, I've had good and bad flights on Westjet, AC, BA, Lufthansa, Zoom Air Transat, PIA, Air France, Air Afrique, Canadian, Candian North. None of them are perfect.
I've flown both several times. The only time I fly WJ is when the timings of the flights is clearly better. Flying to Regina a few months ago, I could get a direct flight back to Edmonton whereas AC was through Calgary both ways, and WJ got me home earlier. I don't know if this is normal, or if good AC flights were just full already.
Most of my flying is short haul to Calgary, staying maybe 1 night, so I don't even check a bag. I just stuff a change of clothes in my work bag, and save myself the hassle.
My vacation flights over the last few years were both to Hawaii, at times of the year when WJ doesn't fly there, and WJ doesn't cover all the islands. AC either does, or has partners they will book you on through their website to get you there. Does WJ have partners? No.
AC has Aeroplan, and I've got the Aeroplan VISA from CIBC, and an Aeroplan mortgage. WJ offers no such things.
AC flies a broad range of aircraft, including one of my favorites - the Dash 8. 737s are boring workhorses. The Dash 8 doesn't have a bad window in the whole plane.
WJ's folksy attitude comes across to me as unproffessional. AC has always impressed me with their matter of fact attitude.
Given my 'druthers, I'll always fly AC. I'll only fly WJ if it's clearly more convenient in terms of leaving later and getting home earlier.

I believe they do charters there. That's what I though but they list all other seasonal holiday destinations except that one. Think I'd like to see the boarding pass.
I have flown westjet a few times in the past year. ok for short flights like 4hrs or less.... but mostly they suck...
Why do they suck?
